Master John Ding's visit to Dublin

Tai Chi weekend workshops June 10th - 12th 2022

We had to wait over two years, but we finally managed to get together for a weekends training with Master Ding in Dublin. I was unsure how the weekend would go given the nature of recent years; I shouldn’t have been concerned.

We began with a day of Instructor and senior student training. After casting an eye over our form, Master Ding knew exactly where we needed to focus our efforts. Cue a day of focused partner work, steering us in the right direction for further weeks and months of personal practice.

The next two days were open Masterclasses, suitable for all levels to join. The days topics were Power through Posture: beyond balance to stability, and Yin and Yang: the ebb and flow of Tai Chi. Master Ding gives us clear, simple partner exercises that allow us to experience concepts, not just intellectually, but physically, in the body and in our interactions with our training partners. New starters and experienced practitioners working together to understand, then further refine that understanding, through hands on training.

I never cease to be impressed by people’s willingness to move out of their comfort zone and try something new. Thanks to those who travelled, from the Irish midlands, Cork, and from further afield, London and France, your being there makes a real difference. And a special shout out to all those who were attending for the first time. Well done. A good time was had by all.

Until next time, keep training and have fun!
